  1. I think I've seen someone post how to do this. Use site search.
  2. Is it possible to avoid this problem with "use predefined hosts"?
  3. http://forum.bittorrent.com/topic/24856-problem-with-the-mobile-client/ says:
  4. feedback on Android 1.2.10: I'm getting the impression of substantially better performance when on Auto Sleep. The app seems to pick up changes much more reliably and quickly. With previous Auto Sleep versions, it seemed like it wouldn't sync changes within my 15 minute wake-up period, and the time required to finally sync was just unsure. These are just impressions since I haven't systematically collected any data, but I've checked up on a few syncs with my phone on 3G, not WiFi, and the phone both propagated its changes and synced changes from other devices with almost no delay, even while Auto Sleep was on. But I could really use some suggestions with my Linux Synology NAS failing to connect beyond itself in any way since any 1.2.x version--the process runs normally but no sync clients are visible, it's not visible to any other client, and the webUI is unreachable. See http://forum.bittorrent.com/topic/24791-linux-1267-no-errors-but-no-sync-or-webui/ EDIT: I had a rare switch to WiFi today, and it lost sync. Once I went back to 3G and forced a sync by foregrounding the app, it stayed in sync with 3G even as I moved to many different locations. It's possible that my 3G connection changed DHCP ip addresses when I went to other locations, but I didn't check that. But it looks like the problem of maintaining sync when changing networks still remains.
  5. On my Synology NAS, I created a user named "bittorrentsync." I login as root to make sure all the btsync-related files' owner:group is bittorrentsync:users. Then I do su - bittorrentsyncand launch the btsync process, do all btsync-related stuff, etc.. I could also login as the user bittorrentsync if I don't need to change any file's owner.
  6. After several minutes of testing on my S4 and Note 2, 1.2.10 looks good.
  7. woo hoo! FYI, rooted, sync folders on both internal and external storage.
  8. No, I did a clear all history, which is cookies, cache, site-related info of any kind, etc. There was a reboot between the time it didn't work and when it started working, but I can't pinpoint the fix to rebooting. EDIT: Actually, come to think of it I only rebooted one of my laptops, which was the one where I didn't do the clear history and left cookies intact. But both computers suddenly started working.
  9. Compare with http://forum.bittorrent.com/topic/21884-is-20-45-linux-nas-cpu-usage-too-high/
  10. It's working with Firefox now. That was a weird situation.
  11. Same here: http://forum.bittorrent.com/topic/24821-android-129-clobbers-changes/ Both my Android phones sync a mix of external and internal SD with 1.1.48, no problem.
  12. Yeah, I noticed the re-organization and assumed that had something to do with it. But I've already tried navigating to the forums starting from the bittorrent.com home page, and that doesn't help. Funnily enough, at some point the forums did load one time, but not before or since. It's still a Firefox-only problem; IE works fine.
  13. In my case, sometimes it works better to hold the phone farther away from the monitor and read a smaller QR image. Also, try raising your monitor's brightness.
  14. I installed 1.2.67 on my Windows laptops, and it ran with my phones and NAS's still on their previous versions, no problem. So I updated my S4 and Note 2 to 1.2.9. My Note 2 is always on home LAN WiFi because it's my backup phone and alarm clock. Except for the initial WiFi sync, my S4 is always on 3G mobile data because I'm troubleshooting a battery usage issue. Both the S4 and Note 2 initially sync fine, see the other clients and remains visible to them, etc. But they clobber any changes made on any other client. The Note 2's Auto Sleep is turned off because that phone is always plugged in, and the S4 is set to 15 minutes. A few minutes after saving a change on any other client, from any other network, history shows that the Note 2 and S4 come along to update that same file with their own old copies, and then all the other clients' histories show "Finished syncing file <filename> added by <Note2 or S4>." So the S4 and Note 2 clobber all changes--a deathly error. I've tried delinking, deleting, uninstalling, and reinstalling, but both phones still clobber. The only fix has been to revert to 1.1.48. Any suggestions how to troubleshoot? It's particularly annoying because I don't dare test 1.2 with my real data, so I have to leave it on toy data only, and create and link to that toy data on all my other clients while my phones stay out of sync.
  15. For the past day, I've been getting 404'd for these forums no matter what computer I use on what network. I suddenly discovered that it's related to using Firefox on Windows because IE works and Android Firefox works. I've attached screenshots. I've tried clearing my DNS cache with "ipconfig /flushdns" and doing a clear all history (all types), but this site has become unusable for me with Firefox. Any advice?
  16. I just manually upgraded my NAS to 1.2.68 in the usual way and start btsync using the same sync.conf. The process appears to run normally, and top shows that it settles down to the usual memory and CPU usage. My NAS is my router's DMZ, so all its ports are open to the WAN, so I would think that "NAT-PMP error" isn't relevant. I presumably had the same "error" when running 1.1. But with 1.2.x, my NAS hasn't been visible to any other clients. The webUI is also inaccessible from the LAN and WAN. I've tried starting with a clean bin/.sync directory, but no dice. With debugging enabled, here's the top of my sync.log: [20131106 10:38:12.396] total physical memory -1 max disk cache 2097152[20131106 10:38:12.402] Using IP address 192.168.1.2[20131106 10:38:12.403] test sha1: AE5BD8EFEA5322C4D9986D06680A781392F9A642[20131106 10:38:12.404] NAT-PMP: error: Not Authorized/Refused (e.g. box supports mapping, but user has turned feature off)[20131106 10:38:12.404] NAT-PMP: error: Not Authorized/Refused (e.g. box supports mapping, but user has turned feature off)[20131106 10:38:12.441] test sha2: 630DCD2966C4336691125448BBB25B4FF412A49C732DB2C8ABC1B8581BD710DD[20131106 10:38:12.441] test aes: 0A940BB5416EF045F1C39458C653EA5A07FEEF74E1D5036E900EEE118E949293[20131106 10:38:12.442] Loading config file version 1.2.67[20131106 10:38:13.420] NAT-PMP: Mapped TCP port 44516 -> 192.168.1.2:44516[20131106 10:38:13.424] NAT-PMP: Mapped UDP port 44516 -> 192.168.1.2:44516[20131106 10:38:13.426] NAT-PMP: Got external IP: 220.136.125.229[20131106 10:38:15.977] SyncFolderScanner: Adding notifer "/volume1/lib"[20131106 10:38:15.977] Added path=/volume1/lib with fd=1/* I removed the remaining "Added paths" from the log for privacy and because eveverything looked normal. */[20131106 10:38:16.700] SyncFilesController: started periodic scan[20131106 10:38:16.701] SyncFilesController [file updated]: processing file /volume1/lib/screenplays 1377346196 2139062143/* I removed the remaining SyncFilesController for privacy and because everything looked normal. */
  17. So far, updating both of my Android devices has worked as expected.
  18. Auto sleep generally works as expected for me, but sometimes I have the same problem. I need to spend more time looking for patterns for when it works and when it doesn't because it's hard to pinpoint just when it quit syncing. I have the app set to check for activity every 15 minutes. Actually, maybe I shouldn't say "quit sync," but rather that some stuff goes without syncing for more than an hour. It's possible that it would eventually sync, but when I detect the discrepancy I always need it to sync immediately, so I foreground the app to fix things. A couple of things I suspect: 1) when you change networks, you sometimes lose sync. I think I've lost sync going from my 3G data plan back to my home LAN's Wifi, and possibly other Wifi. I've turned off WiFi completely (unlimited data plan) to see over the next few weeks if I ever lose sync. But other times, I've also lost sync without changing networks. 2) if you open a document from within the BitTorrent Sync app instead of directly from its associated app, I think that will guarantee maintaining sync because you un-sleep BitTorrent Sync each time you do that. That solution is unworkable in the long run unless they turn the app into a full-featured, fully customizable file explorer that works as extraordinarily well as my current favorite, Solid Explorer.
  19. I added this to the other wishlist, but it should have gone here: Have an option to automatically disable auto sleep when the phone is connected to AC power and then automatically resume auto sleep when the phone is disconnected from AC.
  20. FYI: I regularly sleep my Windows 7 laptop and move it between several different networks, and it's never had a problem resuming sync. I never shut it down before moving to a new location. My Android phone, though, sometimes seems to lose sync when moving to a new network until the app is foregrounded, but I'm still looking into that problem.
  21. Manual install is pretty easy if you're comfortable with ssh'ing into your NAS. Then you can set the port in the configuration file.
  22. Allow optionally automatically disabling auto sleep when Android phone is connect to AC power and then auto sleep automatically restarts as soon as phone is unplugged.
  23. After trial #3 above, I've concluded that auto sleep has improved battery consumption in the expected and desirable way. Unless something goes haywire, I'm optimistic that this thread is done.
