  1. We're getting close to the release of iOS9, and we're still missing key functionality introduced in iOS7. I want to be able to open a spreadsheet in bittorrent sync on my iPhone, make an edit, save it, and then be able to see that on my mac. This is possible with the APIs, and it has been for quite some time. If you can just implement this and improve the general quality of the iOS app, I'll be happy to plunk down for that annual subscription.
  2. cmd + / = keyboard shortcuts. Pushing the key combo again should hide the shortcuts. No? Seems like it should toggle it on and off.
  3. Am I the only one getting an "image file corrupted" error when trying to open the OS X package? I'm on the newest version of Yosemite on a new MacBook One.
  4. A new version of btsync hasn't been released in a while. Is an update coming soon to address all of these huge open issues that were created by moving to a completely new type of system with 2.0?
  5. Offer a lifetime option. Extract 3x the revenue up front. This is pretty standard in the enterprise software world. If a customer will pay 3x to 5x up front, make it perpetual.
  6. I know I'm an outlier, but I think $40/year is a bit expensive, but even if we go with that price, I believe that a 3-year pre-pay should allow for a perpetual license. Thus, $120 seems more than fair for both parties. I'd even go up to $150. After that, nope.
  7. BTSync seems to price per user, even though the software has no concept of users. The software uses identities, which could, but not necessarily, equate 1:1 to users. SUPER CLEAR!
  8. Absolutely. Paying subscription fees for this isn't an option for me. Just give me a lifetime option, and I'm in. I don't really care about the price. Otherwise, I'll continue to stay on the free tier until SyncThing is a bit more polished. I wish the BTSync leadership understood this. You're not losing $40 / year on me if you offer me $120 lifetime option. You're just gaining $120 cuz I'm not going to pay for the subscription.
  9. Yup - this new way of doing everything w/ the identity and in the default folder is a regression in usability, as far as I'm concerned.
  10. This is annoying. Not sure if it's the new identity system or what, but we have a budget file that we keep in sync on our two computers. We used btsync 1.4 before, and now we're on 2.0. As in the screenshot, it says that things are sync'd. There are three machines here: 1 MacBook Air, 1 MacBook Pro, and 1 FreeNAS system (btsync running in a jail). Yesterday I made some changes to the budget file. My wife opened it this morning on her MacBook Air and didn't see the changes. I didn't think much of it, but then she made some changes to it, and then when I opened it on my MacBook Pro, I still saw the version from yesterday. So somehow, she had her changes on her computer, I had my changes on mine, but they weren't syncing. Fearing something odd, I decided to create a backup file called "budget backup" on her computer. Then I SSH'd into the FreeNAS box to see what the situation was on that box. On the FreeNAS box, it had her changes from this morning as well as the new backup file I created, but the backup file isn't appearing on my machine. So then I decided to try the reverse test. I created a test text file in my shared directory. I went to the NAS. Nothing... The file hadn't sync'd. I went and verified all the paths. They were all accurate. Not knowing what to do, I tried pausing sync'ing on my "Shared" folder and then resuming it. That didn't fix anything either. Next I decided to try and toggle "Sync All" off. I turned it off. Then I turned it back on. Then the wheel started turning and btsync started sync'ing again. However, instead of just sync'ing over the few changed files, it looks like it's now re-copying the entire Shared folder, as it's only 15% done and going at a few megs per second. Let me know if there are logs or anything that I can submit. - a non pro user
  11. Oh wow - I never realized that garbage about the common identity. I just set all my machines up last night, and I changed how i was doing things so that there's only 8 folders now. Am I going to get bugged in 30 days because of this common identity nonsense? I wonder if I can somehow revert to the old, rather elegant way of sharing folders, where they don't show up unless you enter a key. I really liked that. I hate that all the folders show up on every machine now. I want my NAS to have ALL sync'd folders. I want my computer to have some. I want my wife's computer to have some. I don't need to see her sync'd folders, even if they're outlined and invisible (disconnected), and likewise she doesn't need to see mine. Sigh - this whole thing is really annoying and disruptive.
  12. I had a similar issue. I'm not sure if you're on a mac or not. If you are, on the machine you want to fix, go into Time Machine and roll back ~/Library/Application Support/Bittorrent Sync (or something like that) to the version of the files before you installed bittorrent sync 2.0. Then when you restart the app, it will think it's starting for the first time. If you're not on Mac, I'm sure those files are in a similar place on whichever OS you're on.
  13. And re: those extensions, charge me for them! Happy to pay for them with an in-app purchase!
  14. There should be an option to hide folders. This "feature" is annoying. I have 8 or 9 sync'd folders, but I only want to show a few on my phone, but I still want that phone to be part of my identity. Maybe just in the options a check box for "show disconnected folders" And of course, my number one feature request for the iOS client is to actually support the iOS8 extensions that would make the app useful!!!
  15. Non-mac or not, it's the same UI across all the platforms. I'm with you. Or even if it's not a right-click, that "..." menu should be pinned to the right of the menu. Probably both - allow for a right click and pin it to the right. I use the Mac and FreeBSD version. It's the same as in the windows screenshot you're sharing.
  16. Hi there, Cautiously dipping my toes in the water here. I set everything up with 2.0 and the single account last night. I scanned the barcode w/ my iPhone app, and all of my folders showed up. I only want a couple of them on my iPhone. When I go to remove, it tells me that the folder will be removed from ALL of my devices. That's definitely not what I want. Similarly, it appears that if I add a sync folder on one machine, it automatically creates that same sync folder on another machine - any way to keep this from happening? I'd like it to prompt me whether or not that folder should be added / created. Thanks.
  17. Wow. Great find there. Really sad to see the company publish something like that, build a community around it, and then do a 180.
  18. a) not related to the thread topic - so let's not go there. okay let's go there. Bittorrent sync. I prefer to store my stuff on my stuff.
  19. Wow that response from the VP was such a "corporate" response. How about a bit of goodwill for the longtime beta users... Like "okay blah blah blah we provide great value to our customers, etc etc etc, AND to thank our beta testers, we're offering a lifetime subscription option for a limited time and we have decided to remove the 10 folder limit." Goodwill = recovered. But... nope...
  20. If you're going to charge $40 / year, I think a one-time fee of $120 is more than reasonable. This would be equivalent to a 3-year subscription, and BT gets that revenue up front. I just don't like the idea of paying an annual fee for software that isn't hosted / cloud based. I feel the same way about Plex, which is why I took the lifetime service option.
  21. Agree that the EULA needs to be updated here.
  22. This is REALLY annoying. I am more than happy to pay for Bittorrent Sync. I knew the free ride would have to end, but why is it an annual fee? That sucks. I'm not using a service where Bittorrent is providing me cloud storage or anything. If anything, follow the Plex model and give me a lifetime option. And in the free version, that folder limit is really annoying. Also, let's just say I did pay, then can't we make the iOS feature complete with Dropbox? It's crazy that iOS8 has been out so long now, and the app STILL doesn't support the iOS8 document extensions yet. Here we come, syncthing!
  23. +1 to the original request. Although, I'd much rather see some much more basic improvements in the iOS app like proper iPhone 6 / 6+ resolutions and ESPECIALLY the usage of iOS 8 extensions so i can natively integrate the app into my regular workflow.
