  1. About how many people are using BitTorrent Sync? I feel like using beta software for such a critical function is questionable. However, the price is right, the functionality is excellent, and at least for me, it works really well. Actually, I should say I think it is working... it's possible there are tons of corrupted files that I just haven't opened yet! If there were 10 other people using this, I wouldn't even consider it. Not enough data to have any confidence that it is reliable. On the other hand, if there were 1 million people using this regularly, I probably wouldn't care much that it is considered "beta". If the ship goes down, at least we'll all go down together. Can BitTorrent tell us about how many people are using BitTorrent sync?
  2. Hi Marko. Thank you for your reply. It is an intermittent issue. Interestingly, it hasn't happened in the last week or two, even though nothing has changed.
  3. In general, it is my opinion that all syncing applications should sync every file unless explicitely directed by the user to not sync certain files. There are exceptions to every guideline, of course. Specifically, if the syncing of certain types of files prevents software from functioning as well as it could then it is best not to sync them. I was thinking this would be a good place to create a thread in which people could propose filespecs (filenames with wildcards) that BitTorrent sync should ignore by adding to the default IgnoreList, and why. People can also contribute if they feel any existing or recommended IgnoreList item should be removed. Maybe this could be a sticky. I'll start with a recommendation: .~lock.*I propose adding this to the default IgnoreList. Why? Because temporary files created by LibreOffice (and perhaps OpenOffice) match this filespec, and nothing else likely will. When these files are not added to IgnoreList, performance suffers when using LibreOffice and a significant number of unnecessary transfers take place.
  4. Thank you! If everything appears to be working correctly, do you recommend updating to the latest version that is offered on http://www.getsync.com/download, or only updates available through auto-update?
  5. Thank you for the update. Why is it not available via auto-update yet? Are there stability issues or other issues that make it worse than the previous version?
  6. Sometimes the Bittorrent Sync system tray icon is not present. It's not that it's hidden. It simply is not present. In Control Panel -> Notification Area Icons, I've even tried 'Always show all icons and notifications on the taskbar' to make sure it's not there at all, and it's definitely not. I also tried 'Restore default icon behaviors' just to be sure, but Bittorrent Sync is definitely not reliably creating its system tray icon. Interestingly, the Bittorrent Sync process is running and it seems to be working. If I run the executable manually (even though it is already running), it will then show the window, but as soon as I close the window, it does not go to the system tray. I have 'Show notifications' turned on within Bittorrent Sync, and yet the notifications do not appear because of the missing system tray icon. This happens on multiple different Windows 7 (SP1) 64-bit systems. None are running any special system tray managers. The problem appears when trying to use Bittorrent Sync v1.4.93 beta.
