jvargem
Hi.Following the instructions from these forums, I managed to install theBitTorrent Sync in my WD My Book Live.Initially everything was running fine and the Web UI would show the folders being synched and any ongoing activity.Recently however, although the synchronization process is running, when I open the Web UI it is empty.I mean, no folders are displayed. Also, if I try to add a new folder, the "browse folder" button does not work.I found some instructions in the forums for having BitTorrent Sync automatically start with the NAS server and tried to apply them (these ones), but that didn't work.I'm wondering if I messed up something while trying to do that or when manually executing it after restarting the NAS.Do you have any idea of what may be happening? Why does the Web UI page open, but does not display any of my folders? Now I can't manage the folders being synched. Thanks a lot. vadimt
What OS version and browser do you use? Thanks!
jvargem
Hi.My laptop is Windows 7, 64 bits and I'm using IE 10.The NAS OS seems to be PowerPC (ppc). To be honest I got that information from one of the forums here.I could't find the command to check the actual OS and version when in the Linux prompt. This used to work fine.It stopped working after I had to manually restart BitTorrent a couple of times after restarting the NAS and a power failure. Thanks
jvargem
In case someone looks at this post, I've noticed the following errors on the sync.log file:(...)[20131026 22:44:44.561] UPnP: Could not map UPnP Port on this pass, retrying.[20131026 22:44:46.582] UPnP: Device error "http://<WD Live IP>:49154/nasdevice.xml": (-2)[20131026 22:44:46.587] UPnP: Device error "http://<Router IP>:1780/WFADevice.xml": (-2)[20131026 22:44:46.590] UPnP: Device error "http://<Router IP>:5431/dyndev/uuid:f0241001-5c00-e084-ac30-005c00502c10": (-2)[20131026 22:44:47.160] UPnP: Device error "http://<my laptop IP>:2869/upnphost/udhisapi.dll?content=uuid:760d9259-73d6-4981-9329-be19ec52580c": (-2)[20131026 22:44:49.553] UPnP: Unable to map port <WD Live IP>:47215 with UPnP.[20131026 22:44:54.485] UPnP: Device error "http://<WD Live IP>:2869/dms_descr.xml": (-2) Can this be the cause of the WebUI not working properly? Harold Feit
How did you launch sync on the device?
jvargem
Hi.Manually by typing ./btsync
Harold Feit
Every time from the same location?
jvargem
Well, the first time I installed BitTorrent sync in the NAS I may have exeecuted it from different locations.I mean, the executable file was in only one place, but I called it from a different location by using the full path to it. Since I then started having problems with the WebUI and trying to create a startup script for it (I found it in one of the forums here), I decided to try and remove it completely to try and install it again. I know Linux is not like Windows in this regard, so I removed btsync and its sub-folders manually and also the startup script I was trying to use. I was hoping this would "clean" things up. Yesterday I tried to install it again and on the first run WebUI was still not working and the log file listed the errors I mentioned before.I'm starting to think I will never be able to get btsync working properly again. Harold Feit
Did you remove the ".sync" folders that were created in the locations you ran sync from?
jvargem
Yes. I removed all traces of bittorrent sync before trying to install it again.
jvargem
Problem is now solved. It turns out the reason the WebUi was not working had to do with the UPnP errors listed in the log file. The moment that was fixed the WebUI started working as before. I'm not sure exactly what fixed this though.I had to manually map the My Book Live ports in the router, because the automatic mapping was not working. The moment I did this BTSync started working.I'm not sure if there was some kind of conflict between both applications. RomanZ
@macsoftCould you please turn on full debug output and provide debug log for analysis? Thanks!
Camaban
I'd had this happen as well. Insisted on asking for a new user/password (using a config file that had this defined) and then showing nothing. Empty folder list. Attempts to add a new one simply showed a blank. Attempts to add a URL received a message saying invalid URL. debug logs showed nothing. Occurred with a previous install of CentOS 6.5, a fresh Centos 7 install and a fresh Ubuntu 14.04 install. All x64. Was resolved by wiping, wiping the sync directory, installing 1.3.109, running, quitting then updating to 1.4.75 The sync.log file with debugging turned on is as below. tail -f sync.log version: 1.4.75platform: Linux 2.6.32-042stab090.5 #1 SMP Sat Jun 21 00:15:09 MSK 2014 x86_64[20140910 14:40:12.040] total physical memory 536870912 max disk cache 2097152[20140910 14:41:27.067] total physical memory 536870912 max disk cache 2097152[20140910 14:41:27.070] test sha1: AE5BD8EFEA5322C4D9986D06680A781392F9A642[20140910 14:41:27.070] test sha2: 630DCD2966C4336691125448BBB25B4FF412A49C732DB2C8ABC1B8581BD710DD[20140910 14:41:27.070] test aes: 0A940BB5416EF045F1C39458C653EA5A07FEEF74E1D5036E900EEE118E949293[20140910 14:41:27.070] My PeerID: 10536BB73F07CF503C99E80FB80CF7C1FF0F9ECA[20140910 14:41:27.166] setup socket 10 for local peer discovery for 127.0.0.1:0: success[20140910 14:41:27.576] setup socket 11 for local peer discovery for 127.0.0.2:0: success
RomanZ
@Camaban Try removing user credentials from the config file and clean up your stooge folder (you'll have to re-add all the folders).
Camaban
If it comes up again I'll do that and report back.

hechtmay
I have the same issue.I installed btsync 9 days ago on a raspberry pi running raspbian. Everything worked fine until today when the web gui went blank.I installed btsync during the last couple of days on several other machines (2x Android, 2x Windows, 1x Ubuntu), they still work fine. RomanZ
@hechtmay1) Try different browser2) Is Sync process runs? Seen by other peers?3) Is it completely blank or it still shows the gray line at the top of page (one that used to be a place for buttons)? Remirus
hechtmay, in addition to previous answer:Do you have symlinks in your shared folders? For example you might have some recursive symlinks: folder1/folder2/folder3/symlink which points to folder1. Hi, thanks a lot for your responses. 1) wasn't working in different browser2) btsync was still running and syncing3) completely blank (white page, no content) I got it to work again doing this (why this helped I don't know): [1] changed the config file to be writable for root (it was only readable for root)sudo chmod +w /etc/btsync/debconf-default.conf [2] ran the configuration and selected the defaultssudo dpkg-reconfigure btsync now the web gui is back again, and everything works fine thanks guys, btsync is really great! cyberto
Thanks I tried the solution from hechtmay but no difference. I noticed that if the btsync daemon uses a lot of CPU, the web ui loads after about 1 minute....
RomanZ
@cybertoIf UI loads after 1 minute - its a different issue and I suggest checking the amount of files, folders and peers against the hardware of your peer.
