I apologize for my lack of knoweledge here...

2 Issues: 1) Logging in to BTsync and 2) adding folders.

Installed fine through Synocommunity package - and updated on both DS213+ and DS1513+ to 1.2.82-1

Originally I couldn't login through port 8888 with Chrome but remember that it worked in IE.  Once I could log in then I had trouble adding a folder.  I tried to create a directory then add it by name, then I tried the path //volume1/sync.  Neither worked.

Now IE and Chrome prompt for user/pass but it says page can't be displayed.

Please try the latest 1.2.82 version http://syncapp.bittorrent.com/1.2.82/. This issue should be fixed there. Thanks!

I started with that version and getting this error.

I will post the logs as soon as I get home but just wanted to give you few insights.

Everything worked fine (iTunes folder) until yesterday after making few changes to my laptop's music files, about 9 of them are having issues syncing with my desktop.

So far I re-synced my desktop but it is still stuck.

Again I will post the logs later today.

I don't know if I'm the only one experiencing this issue but the up/down status is not always accurate on my Windows 8.1 pro...

Seems OK on every other OS I use, weird!?

If I restart btsync it fix the problem for a while...

Hi.

I'm on 1.2.82, Linux.

What is the maximum number of shares that BTSync can handle?

I have about 20 different folders shared, and something seemed to get stuck, it was refusing to let new shares sync.  The log showed it was watching the folder for changes, but it wasn't broadcasting for peers or anything like that.

I removed a bunch of shares and then it seemed to get 'unstuck'.

I readded some of the shares, it seemed to be ok, except when I added two at a time and then it didn't seem to start syncing the first one I added, until I removed and re-added it.

I added another two at a time (or rather, I added one, then the other before the first had finished indexing).

Now neither have connected to its peers, even though other shared folders are already connected to the same peers.

QUESTION 1

Now I'm wondering if I should delete my whole .btsync folder and start again?  (and hope I don't stomp on anyone elses changes).

QUESTION 2

When I'm re-adding pre-populated folders to the sync club, is there a risk that my file will overwrite more recent changes on their end?   I want to use just what they have...

I am sharing most of these folders with the same people, but they want to put the results in different locations, hence we get many shares.  Is it much better to try and just share a couple of much bigger folders, rather than lots of smaller ones individually?

QUESTION 3

There seems to be a LOT of idle traffic.  Why is it trying to find peers every second?  I don't want to eat up my bandwidth with the constant chatter.  I find I am turning off btsync when I need to skype/etc even though its just idling.

cheers,

Paul

Your file will overwrite file on remote host ONLY if YOUR file is NEWER (timestamp) than same file on OTHER machine(s) and sync established via R\W key, replaced file can be found in .SyncArchive on host where file is replaced.  If you planning to use only "what they have" you can establish sync via Read only key, or set up .SyncIgnore file

"Couple of much bigger folders" is better. More shares = more IDLE traffic

btsync is it trying to find peers every second - because Search LAN option is ON. In folder options you can disable everything, ENABLE only known hosts option,   add known hosts ip:port . After that btsync will establish direct connection to known host without IDLE traffic.

Try to disable upnp support on router and check how skype and btsync are working together. Bad router can be a reason.

cheers,

Paul

Hi,

Hope my answers will help you

Thanks for the reply.

Regarding the idle traffic, is the tracker server contacted frequently?

And it seems to chatter with the other nodes quite a lot.  I was expecting them to talk only when they had something new to say!

It will be improved in the next update.

Thanks!

First off I would like to say that this product is great and has made my sync life easier. Thank you for your hard work.

- I'm running 1.2.82 on three Synology NAS's using the SynoCommunity package.

- The folder is in Sync. 5.8TB in 3852 Files

- Each NAS is using the same NTP time server and in the same time zone.

- Most of the time but not always when I rename a file it re-uploads the entire file to the other two sync members. The file is normally over 1GB.

I have to assume this is not by design and maybe I have some thing configured incorrectly on my end?

Any push in the right direction would greatly be appreciated.

You can start from:

1. Rename file when btsync in IDLE state (no upload\download activities);

2. Rename file when btsync in ACTIVE state (downloading\uploading files);

If rename will fail at step 2, try to decrease length of file path and repeat step 2

Rename fails when IDLE or ACTIVE but sometimes it works when IDLE or ACTIVE.

Here is the shared folder path;

/volume1/Video/HomeMovies

and inside that shared folder I have;

/Bella birthday 2013/bella bday august 2013.mp4

is that to long of a file path?
