If you think that they’d come up with Sync’s definition, you’d be fooling yourself.
@luomat You are definitely right!

@fefrie Could you please send me logs from both peers and tell me the name of the problematic folder?

I have folders that never show a green check, they just show a blue circle and 100%. What's with that?
@Boatguy Could you please send me logs from your peer which has a blue circle and 100% ? Is it an OS X peer?

Go out and ask 100 people what “pause” means in the context of an app that syncs files, and let me know how many of them come back with your definition.
@luomat I know the results
-
@luomat Pause is about stopping uploading/downloading files. It's not about stopping syncing. Its purpose is to save bandwidth.
-
@Andy+ If you want to stop all activities you should exit Sync.
-
@baudetd Could you please check if files with such error is Synced?

Pause implies that only bits downloads/uploads are stopped. It means that
- zero sized files will be synced either way;
- paused peers won't download/upload anything;
- file's deletion will be synced either way;
- new files will be rescanned and indexed, i.e. share size will increase accordingly on a paused peers.https://help.resilio.com/hc/en-us/articles/206217325-How-to-pause-syncing

@Andy+ Are you expecting any certain new features?

@mrjmr Sorry to hear this.

Sync already always prefers local peers. I don't know the way to give a higher priority to them...
You can disable relay & tracker servers and use 'predefined hosts' setting as workaround.

@luomat I agree with you. It's far away from being perfect.
Currently the only option to pause syncing is to shutdown Sync completely.

To provide those two functionalities I can put a Sync server out onto EC2 with public facing IP and all my other peers can use that EC2 server as the predefined host, correct?
Correct

Just now, vadviktor said:
Then you say the opposite, that predefined hosts will be my trackers and relay when I set them up on a public facing EC2.
I didn't say that.
I told you that you don't need neither tracker nor relay server in case you use predefined hosts.

@Markezzzzzo Did you check archive folder on remote peer?

Do the predefined hosts act as relays and/or trackers?
No.
37 minutes ago, vadviktor said:Can it be achieved with defining that AWS EC2 as the predefined host?
Yes. You don't need tracker/relay server. Just setup predefined hosts. You don't any vpn solution to achieve your goal.
You can even disable public relay & tracker servers and Sync will work (in case you use predefined hosts)

Is there any way to find out why they failed to sync?
@luomat I think it won't be easy. Especially if logs have already rotated. Feel free to remove them. Update to the latest version. If it repeats again send logs to support.

you don't need to configure IPS. Sync works out-of-the-box

@NOWadmin Yes, you can do it. Use option --storage pointing to a separate folder for each instance.
