Debian And Ubuntu Server Unofficial Packages For Bittorrent Sync

So I was tolded to post this here from my last post

Ā

Blank Web Gui Ubuntu 14.4

Just a recap on my problem.

Ā

I have a ubuntu 14.4 server, I was playing around with file permissions because I was having permission issues between btsync and SAMBA. After playing around with it I finely changed the umask to 775, this fixed my problem. However so some reason the Web Gui is now broken. When I go to the web gui, I get a password prompt I enter in the password and I get a blank page. I haveĀ  rebooted the server, restated btsync, reran the btsyn config. uninstalled and reinstalled btsync. But nothing has worked.

Ā

Any ideas?

How can I reset everything to default?

Same blank screen on my Ubuntu 14.04. It's still working as my other bitsync systems connect and work.

Fixed it by removing bitsync totally and reinstalling version 1.2.92 manually.

Then tried same method with 1.3. Anything above 1.3.94 has the same blank GUI problem.

  • 2 weeks later...

When 1.4.72 will be available for debian servers?

Ā

I'm currently making a series of compatibility tests. The modularity of the Debian packages implies that the update of btsync-common to 1.4.72 affects the server version, the gui version and the legacy gui version. Before publishing the update I have to make sure, that all dependent packages (btsync, btsync-gui, btsync-gui-gtk and btsync-user) are working properly.

Ā

Furthermore the specific download locations are still missing, making it impossible to generate/execute a reproducible build script. In addition the GEODE version is also missing...

Ā

So stay tuned.

First of all thanks for the ppa!

I have installed btsync from ppa and fine tuned.

now when I try to backup my android phone camera, on the server Firefox that i have ro update to 1.4 if say i have it, it says that can't open link:

The address wasn't understood

Firefox doesn't know how to open this address, because one of the following protocols (btsync) isn't associated with any program or is not allowed in this context.

anyone can point my in the right direction?

its a problem with version 1.3.x or it can grab links from android phone?

problem of permissions?

sorry for my english and thanks in advance!

Here it is! The long awaited update to 1.4. As usual it will take a few hours for people using the Launchpad PPA. The YeaSoft Repository is available immediately. Have fun!

I had the same problem. Are you using default configuration, or a self created configuration file? For me using the default configuration fixed the "problem"

I tried upgrading with self created configuration file but failed. Moved my configuration to backup place, tried to install from scratch but also failed. Let's hope that tuxpoldo's fix will work.

Fixed. Update available on YeaSoft's repository. Launchpad PPA, as usually, will take a few hours to update.

Something weird happens now:

~$ sudo aptitude install btsyncThe following NEW packages will be installed: btsync btsync-common{a}0 packages upgraded, 2 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.Need to get 0 B/5,661 kB of archives. I have to manually run sudo dpkg-reconfigure btsync and then there is nothing:

I have to manually run it because it doesn't start itself. AFAIR it was after new install.

Ā

May be there is a way to clean all the traces of btsync and install it as new?

Ā

This is really weird! I do not understand, why the startup file is not there. Can you please check

Ā

sudo ls -la /etc/init.d
p.S.: You can try to remove btsync and reinstall it:

Ā

sudo apt-get -y remove btsyncsudo apt-get -y install btsync
It's better not to use --purge, since it would kill /etc/btsync (with your configuration files) and /var/lib/btsync (which may contain a valid configuration).

p.p.S.: If it was a new install and you do not risk to lose anything, you can also purge the old installation:

sudo apt-get --yes ---purge remove btsyncsudo apt-get --yes ---purge autoremovesudo apt-get --yes install btsync

I don't know if that's the right place to ask but I can't open links for android backups on the server, Firefox says that unknown protocol and i searched and can't find a valid solution.

How can I set firefox to "know" the protocol? any other solution?

Can backups be set without webui interaction?

Any other sync are working ok.

Thanks in advance and sorry for any inconvenience.

Ā

You have to send the link from Android to your PC (for example via email) and then paste it under "Options --> Enter a key or link"
