  1. OK, I can also reliably reproduce this port issue in .82 in the following way: 1) Go to Preferences -> Advanced -> Listening Port 2) Change the current value 3) Close the Preferences dialog 4) Open the Preferences dialog again, an entirely new number is now shown in Advanced -> Listening Port - (not the one you just entered in Step 2!) ...if you repeat the above steps but omit step 2, it's fine! - the issue is only when you change the value, close & re-open. So, indeed, it looks like there's a bug, which I've forwarded on to the devs. UPDATE: Devs have confirmed it's a bug
  2. Yes, if you take a moment to read this thread: "direct links not yet available" Please be patient - 1.4.82 was released literally a matter of hours ago, direct links will follow shortly!
  3. Ok, and what version of Sync are you running? (a newer build, 1.4.82 was released just a few hours ago) UPDATE: There does indeed appear to be an issue changing ports in 1.4.82 - please see this post.
  4. Whenever you install Sync (or perform a manual upgrade), it picks a new random port to use. It shouldn't do this every time you open the UI, however - What OS are you running?
  5. When you install Sync, it picks a random port to use by default. However, I'm not sure what you mean that it "cannot be changed back" - the random port that's picked by Sync when you install can be changed at any time via Options (the cog icon) -> Preferences -> Advanced -> Listening Port. (Note: You may need to restart Sync for port changes to take affect)
  6. @brett2, the resizing columns issue has been fixed as of 1.4.82
  7. Hi Folks, Sync 1.4.82 is now available for manual download from the main site (or via direct links here) Note: This build isn't yet available via auto-update Sync 1.4.82 Changelog: - Add WebUI support for OSes with IE older than IE9: - Fix various crashes - Linux WebUI now listens only on loopback interface (can be overridden, see here for details) - Remove redundant prefs in API get_prefs call - Note "Beta" status of the product - Fix inability to disable debug logs from UI - Fix change password function in Linux WebUI - Warn user when folder contains locked files - Validate speed limits before applying - Cosmetic and UI changes, including: - UI now indicates folders are "Loading.." upon application startup (previously the message "Welcome To BitTorrent Sync" was shown, causing concern for some users who believed their existing folders had been lost) - Version number now also shown in Preferences dialog - Generated Sync links now use "#" in place of "?" - see this thread - Columns can now be correctly resized The changelog for the previous build (1.4.75) may be found here. Important Notes on Sync 1.4: Downgrade to 1.3 is not possible after installing Sync 1.4. (If you wish to downgrade - please uninstall Sync removing all settings, then install 1.3 and configure all folders from scratch)
  8. You can still enter a key in 1.4, just like you could in earlier versions. However, in 1.4, you'll need to click Options (the cog icon) and then select "Enter a Key"
  9. Hover over the system tray icon - the version number is displayed in a tooltip: It should ideally also be displayed in the window's title bar (as it was in 1.3), however, in current 1.4 builds, it is only available in the system tray tooltip
  10. sciurius, please see Introducing Sync 1.4 (which is linked to directly from the main website http://www.bittorrent.com/sync/ right below the main download button) and note the very first line of that article: "New in Sync 1.4 Beta" Whilst the team are going to look at making this clearer, the fact of that matter is that Sync remains in beta at this time.
  11. ..and what is the nature of these emails? Please share! Do you also download any torrents, etc - this is usually why people get notifications from their ISP - I've so far not heard of instances of this in relation to using Sync! If you ONLY use Sync and no other P2P type software (i.e. for downloading torrents, etc) on your connection, I suspect that your ISP has just seen a lot of P2P traffic on your connection and "assumed" that you're downloading torrents, in which case, go back to them and ask them for clarification of exactly what you've done wrong!? Sharing your own personal files between your own personal devices via P2P isn't illegal! ...or is it more of a case that your ISP have warned you about the amount of bandwidth you're using in general in a given month? In which case, you can limit the upload/download speed within Sync. Also, if you're only syncing between devices "locally", disabling DHT, Relay, and Tracker options will also reduce the amount of traffic that Sync generates on your connection. However, without knowing what specifically your ISP has contacted you about, it's difficult to advise! - so please provide more details!
  12. Each folder's hidden .sync folder (and files contained within) is unique to that device - i.e. its contents doesn't transfer/sync with corresponding .sync folders on other devices.
  13. Please do bear in mind that Sync is currently in "beta". As with any software title, simply having a version number >1.0, doesn't automatically mean that it's a "stable" release!
  14. ChrisH, please see Introducing Sync 1.4 (which is also linked to directly from the main website http://www.bittorrent.com/sync/ directly below the main download button) and note the very first line of that article: "New in Sync 1.4 Beta"
  15. As per the Unofficial FAQ: "If you currently use the auto-update feature of BitTorrent Sync, it may inform you that your "Client version is up to date" despite a newer build being available. This is intentional whilst Sync remains in "beta" - new builds are currently announced here in the forums in the first instance. Not every "beta" build is pushed via auto-update, only those considered significant/more stable. Even then these may not be pushed out to existing users via auto update until several days/weeks after they are first announced on the forums"
  16. When you install Sync, a random port number will be chosen, and can then be subsequently changed at any time. Not sure I understand? What settings do you believe can "only be changed via the web ui" that can't be defined in the config file?
  17. Such functionality already exists in Sync via the "Use relay server when required" option:
  18. Folks, this isn't the Feature Request forum - please post your +1's for this feature in this thread instead.
  19. You'll find "legacy" versions of Sync 1.3.109 (the last version of 1.3 available is .109) here.
  20. "officially", Sync 1.4 on Mac OS X is only supported on "OS X Lion (10.7) or newer"... however, you've pretty much answered your own question if "the application seems to run fine" for you!
  21. Please take a moment or two to search/browse the forum before posting, as this is already being discussed here. In short, the "iOS camera backup crash" issue is known about and will be fixed in the next release
  22. Tcll, Once again, please keep your comments relevant and "on-topic" to the subject matter of the thread. As a reminder, the theme of this thread is a discussion on Sync 1.4.75. Your input on this subject is welcome, and you have now made your point that you wish to see Sync 1.4 supported on Windows XP. These forums, however, are not the place for airing lengthy "off-topic" views on your perceived security of various Windows kernels or your belief that Microsoft want to "control people" - such things in themselves do not relate to BitTorrent Sync 1.4.75, and therefore do not belong here. Last warning - Please drop it.
  23. Really!? I would suggest the "Paste the new key" field in the following dialog would be a pretty good place to paste a key(!) : (You can access this dialog via a folder's Preferences -> View Key -> Update Key...)
  24. Tcll, please keep your comments on-topic. This thread is for the discussion of Sync 1.4.75 Lengthy ramblings about how you believe Microsoft want to "control people" are not in anyway related to Sync 1.4.75. Your post has therefore been edited to retain the salient point of your comment only. Please bear this in mind when making future contributions to these forums.
