  1. Try the following (based on bigjohnx's instructions here) 1. Go to Synology control panel to enable SSH if not enabled yet 2. Use putty (windows) / ssh (osx/linux) to login your NAS with user root and admin password 3. After enter ssh, type the command "su btsync" 4. Type the command "vi sync.conf" to edit the file 5. Type "ZZ" to save the file
  2. It depends what package of Sync you've installed. It could be: /usr/local/btsync/var/sync.conf ...or if you've installed the SynoCommunity builds, it could be: /volume1/@appstore/btsync/var/sync.conf
  3. Check your Sync config file - you'll find the Web UI username/password there, and can reset (or remove them) accordingly
  4. Why not use a read-only key then instead?! (Changes to files in a folder with a read-only key won't propagate to other devices)
  5. Do you mean "trust" as in whether anyone unauthorized (NSA/BitTorrent Inc/Joe Public, etc) can access your files? ...or do you mean "trust" as in the stability/reliability of the software? If it's the former, there's a wealth of existing threads in the forums where security has been discussed at length (1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7), and also a blog post. If it's the latter, it would perhaps be worth bearing in mind the relative infancy and current "beta" nature of Sync.
  6. My comment was not in response to itsjustmatt - You've taken it completely out of context. itsjustmatt was commenting his views on the desktop app. My response which you've quoted was in fact not in response to that, it was in response to jpf321's separate query about turning on the sharing of keys instead of links in the Android app.
  7. I'm afraid so! I'm afraid not! - however, consider adding your voice to this thread in the Feature Request forum. Perhaps in your specific use case, however, for the vast majority of users, it is undesirable for files beginning with a tilde "~" character to sync, as such files are typically temporary files created by other applications whilst files are in use. As I say though, consider adding your voice to the thread I've indicated above - there's certainly desire from the community to have a single set of exclusion rules that would apply (and propagate) to all folders equally. In the meantime though, the solution, as indicated, is to remove the "~*" exclusion rule from all your .sync\IgnoreList files
  8. It's a known issue - please take a moment to read the "Know Issues" section of the changelog for the latest build
  9. Not at present - but consider adding your voice to this thread in the Feature Request forum instead.
  10. This isn't a bug - just part of the default exclusion rules. Simply remove the "~*" rule from your .sync\IgnoreList file!
  11. That's actually a completely different note to what the OP is asking (although, I concede it initially wasn't too clear as to what the OP was actually asking!) - he's not referring to automatic startup, he's referring to be prompted for credentials each time he accesses Sync via his browser.
  12. Use of a config file will override settings in the Web UI.
  13. This is a know issue in 1.4.83 - updating to the latest build (1.4.93) will resolve this
  14. In Notepad, did you save your "reset.conf" file with ASCII or UTF-8 encoding?
  15. In which case, you'll need to run Sync one time with a config file in order to remove the password. To do this, exit Sync, open Notepad, and add the following (adjusting storage path as appropriate): Save this file as "reset.conf" to the location where Sync is installed (i.e. C:\Program Files\BitTorrent Sync) Next, start a new blank Notepad document containing the following line: Save this second file as "reset.bat" also to the location where Sync is installed. Finally, run (double-click) the reset.bat file you've just created. This should remove the password protection on the WebUI
  16. What version of Sync 1.4 are you using? Earlier 1.4.x builds had this issue where it wasn't possible to resize columns, but this has since been resolved
  17. You won't - 1.4.84 was an internal build and never publicly released.
  18. Please be patient - the devs are working to resolve this, and as RomanZ indicated last week: "Unfortunately the fix is not ready yet. We know the root cause of the issue, but fix is much more complex than expected."
  19. Please also see this thread - The devs are aware of this and working on a fix
  20. It's a known issue - please see the "known issues" section of the latest build's changelog
  21. On PC Two you've yet to share a folder using links. Once you share a folder using links (rather than keys), you'll get a similar screenshot to PC One, and you'll no longer be able to edit the device name (as the username/device name form part of the certificate used as part of the link sharing process)
  22. There's "likely" to be a new build next week, however, do bear in mind that given the current "beta" nature of Sync, there is no public "release schedule" or "road map" at present as to when new builds will become available or what fixes/updates they will contain. Keep your eye on the pinned topics at the top of the Sync General Discussion forum - after a new build becomes available, details (including a changelog) will be posted there
  23. You don't say which OS you're on? ...so I'm going to assume you're referring to one of the desktop apps... in which case, you simply click the "3 dots" icon to the far right of the row of the folder you wish to remove and select "Disconnect":
