  1. There are some useful generic articles in the Sync Help Centre, relating to uPnP including: What Ports & Protocols are used by Sync Peers Aren't Connecting What is a Relay Server ...however, it would near impossible to provide step-by-step instructions for how to turn on UPnP features for every different router out there! Topic closed, as generic documentation already exists, and as Moe indicates, Sync already displays which of your devices are using "relayed" connections
  2. Sync will sync files between your devices either within your local network, or via the internet. However, in order to sync those devices must be turned on. Sync itself isn't "remote access" software - i.e. you won't be able to retrieve a random file from a remote device, you'll only be able to access files within folders you've specifically set to sync.
  3. Moved to Feature Request forum
  4. It's a little dated, but please see the solution and/or consider discussing the topic further in this thread instead.
  5. The team are aware of the suggestions made over in the Feature Request forum, including the popularity of the specific suggestion you refer to. Therefore, please consider adding your voice/+1 to that thread if you've not already done so.
  6. Unlikely, given that forum member Tuxpoldo - who created the unofficial builds being discussed here - hasn't been around here now for the best part of a year, and no longer appears to be maintaining this packages.
  7. It's entirely up to you! It may be a few weeks - it depends on whether there are any serious issues discovered after today's release that need to be addressed before 2.3 is pushed out via auto-update The YeaSoft repository hasn't been updated in a while - it's author & maintainer, tuxpoldo, hasn't been around here on the forums now for nearly a year, and the Sync team have been unable to make contact with him. It's therefore safe to assume that tuxpoldo's unofficial builds won't be updated any time soon. Yes, that's normal - when Sync is installed and running as a Windows Service there's no system tray icon. The UI is instead accessed via your web browser (i.e. 127.0.0.1:8888)
  8. Encrypted Peers are now possible through the UI in Sync 2.3!
  9. This terminology changed a long time ago! Because "keys" (formally know as "secrets") are something you can share with others you wish to sync with, it's better terminology than "secret" which would imply its something only you know.
  10. The documentation you link to (and references to .SyncIgnore) are obsolete. The current documentation on ignoring files in Sync may be found here. .SyncIgnore files have since been superseded by .sync/IgnoreList files. You do indeed need to modify IgnoreList files in each device individually - these files don't sync between your devices, as there may be instances when you wish to exclude certain files for syncing on certain devices. There is, however, a related suggestion over in the Feature Request forum that you may wish to contribute to.
  11. Indeed, as Moe suggests, there are some cool new (and often requested) features coming up shortly. The reason for the length of time between the last release (2.2.7) and the next is due in no small part to the Christmas holiday period. However, expect a new release with some very exciting features (particularly for Windows and Linux users) very soon!
  12. Yes, Sync transfers are encrypted over your local network, unless you change the advanced "lan_encrypt_data" setting from the default "true", to "false"
  13. @Devonavar - see @Moe's comment/hint above... he's a man in the know!
  14. @zdz, the link has now been fixed, however, I'm aware that the new changelog presently only goes up to 2.2.5 - please bear with the team, they've recently migrated the Help Centre, and there are still a couple of "niggles" to iron out! - I've given the appropriate people a nudge to update the changelog to 2.2.7, but in the meantime, here are the missing bits: 2.2.7 - Fixed “Database error” appearing during long time Sync operation with no obvious reason - Fixed issue with inability to re-apply owner license if client license is applied (business licenses only) - Fixed minor cosmetic issues 2.2.6 Fixes: - Crashes on Linux when Sync starts in config mode, then in regular one - Crashes in Linux chroot'ed environments - "More options" shows empty list sometimes - Minor cosmetic fixes UPDATE: Changelog has now been updated to 2.2.7
  15. Please check that you don't have any AdBlock-type extensions running in your Firefox which may be interfering with the correct display of Sync in your browser
  16. Try limiting the maximum upload/download rates in Sync (Preferences -> Advanced -> Bandwidth). By default these are "unlimited"
  17. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you also Andrea, and to the rest of the Sync community! ...and there's some exciting new features coming to Sync in the new year, so if you thought Sync was good already, it's soon going to become even better!
  18. @leo137, please open a support ticket (if you've not already done so), as you'll be able to attach your logs to that. Be sure to reference this forum topic in your ticket.
  19. Consider adding your voice to this thread in the Feature Request forum.
  20. Have you tried installing/running the Linux i386 package? - it should be compatible!
  21. Did you check my first point? i.e. does your "15 gig difference" include the size of the hidden .sync folder?
  22. Yes, if you've opened a support ticket, you'll receive a response via email. The speed of response will depend on whether you're a Sync "Pro" user, or a user of the "Free" edition. Also, it's worth checking your spam/junk folder, as your ticket may have been replied to and erroneously found its way there by mistake.
  23. That's not the .sync folder - I'm referring to the hidden .sync folder that's created within each folder you add to Sync. You'll find the IgnoreList file within these folders. IgnoreList files exists and contain a set of default filters - so just because you've not added any rules yourself doesn't mean that your files/folders aren't being "filtered". As Moe indicates, the Sync Help Center is your friend! - i.e. see: Ignoring Files in Sync (IgnoreList)
  24. Two things to check: 1) Do those sizes include the contents of the hidden .sync folder within each? (By default, when you delete a file on device A, on device B, the file is simply moved to .sync/Archive where it will remain for 30 days) 2) Check the .sync/IgnoreList file - it may be that some of the files you wish to sync are currently being "ignored"
