  1. No, it's not possible to "convert" a standard folder into an advanced folder, short of removing it and then re-adding it as an Advanced folder.
  2. flyh, I assume you're asking for the ability for Sync to notify you when a folder has finished syncing? In which case, your suggestion has already been contributed to this thread, so there's no need to double-post.
  3. Robert, the team do devote a serious amount of time and resources on addressing bugs and improving overall stability, over and above that of adding new features, as a quick scan over the change log shows. If you're experiencing specific issues with Sync and you're running the latest version of Sync (which at time of writing is 2.3.3) then please consider posting in the Sync Troubleshooting forum or indeed opening a support ticket. Thread closed as not a feature request.
  4. Short of renaming the folder in your OS, no. However, you may wish to consider adding your voice/vote/+1 to this thread in the Feature Request forum
  5. See - Supported platforms/minimum requirements in the Sync Help Center
  6. Seren, Even if the "two peers have byte-for-byte identical data and folder structures" if the file modification times differ, this could cause data to transfer. Are you sure when you "pre-populated" the peer that original file timestamps were maintained?
  7. Please see: Soft Links, Hard Links and Symbolic Links in the Sync Help Center: On Windows "Sync doesn't support soft links (junctions), hard links or symbolic links. The use of such links may lead to the appearance of .Conflict files for each entry (file or folder)." ...so not a "bug" as such, more a "limitation" due to "issues in WinAPI".... "it is highly not advised to add to Sync any paths containing Junctions. Use only real paths."
  8. As RomanZ indicated, "We don't have a solution for this issue yet" - so, No, it's not been labeled as "wontfix"
  9. 1. Install Sync on both devices 2. Add the folder you wish to sync to Sync on Device A 3. Copy the sharing link for the folder 4. On Device B, click the sharing link you copied from Device A - you'll then be prompted to select a folder on Device B to connect to. 5. Once connected, the original folder on Device A will begin syncing with the selected folder on Device B 6. Any subsequent files/folders added to the folder on either device will then also sync to the other device. For more assistance getting started with Sync, please refer to the Sync Help Center at http://help.getsync.com
  10. Yes, if you setup a two-way sync between a folder of two different devices, then any additional files/folders added within that folder on either device will automatically sync to the other device.
  11. Please refer to the following Help Center article, and check that the listed ports/ips are not blocked on your router/network: What ports and protocols are used by Sync? For example, can you reach http://config.usyncapp.com/sync.conf ?
  12. "Destination folder is not empty. Add anyway?" simply alerts you to the fact that the folder you're adding already contains some content (which could be overwritten when the folder syncs with other devices) - you can however still add the non-empty folder to Sync!
  13. Unfortunately, Sync 1.3.x is considered is a very old version of sync that is no longer supported, and which compatibility with the latest versions of Sync (2.3.x at time of writing) cannot be guaranteed. Win2k3 is considered an obsolete operating system by Microsoft and no longer supported. The highest version of Sync that you can run on 2k3 is 1.4.111, so you should certainly consider upgrading from 1.3.109 to 1.4.111 on your 2k3 machine for "better" compatibility with the latest 2.3.x builds. However, please be aware that 1.3.x and 1.4.x branches of Sync are no longer maintained. Therefore, the "best" long-term solution would be upgrade your obsolete operating system, so that you can run the most recent versions of Sync across all your devices.
  14. Yes - Every file is split to "Pieces" when transferred. To ensure data integrity, Sync hashes every piece of file (and then later hashes all hashes to get the checksum for the whole file). Please see the following Help Center Articles: Download/Upload Speed is very slow How can I improve data transfer sync speed Not natively at present, however, please consider adding your voice/vote to this thread in the Feature Request forum. In the meantime, a "workaround" would be to setup a Scheduled Task (or equivalent) on your OS to run/exit Sync on a schedule.
  15. You'll need to add/edit configuration file to listen to instruct Sync to listen for Web UI connections for another/all IP addresses.
  16. Folks, as this 33+ page long thread is now drifting away from the original theme around the (obsolete) unofficial Linux packages created by forum contributor @tuxpoldo, and is now moving more into off-topic discussions surrounding the new official Linux packages available for Sync, it's time to draw this particular thread to a close after nearly three years. Before doing so, I'd like to express thanks on behalf of the Sync community for all the contributions to this thread over the past three years, and especially for the work done on the unofficial packages originally contributed by @tuxpoldo, their subsequent fork by @Silvenga, and the unofficial installation/management script recently created by @moe. Whilst @tuxpoldo & his packages have been dormant for some time now, both @moe's and @Silvenga's unofficial work continues ... Information and discussions relating to the unofficial installation/management script created by @moe continue in this thread. Information and discussions relating to @Silvenga's fork of @tuxpoldo's original unofficial packages continue in this thread. Discussions relating to the new official Linux packages available for Sync should now continue in separate threads.
  17. There are already other threads covering aspects of these suggestions, perhaps consider adding your voice/vote/+1 to these:
  18. Yes - the Sync Help Center is your friend!
  19. Yes, temporarily setting peer_expiration_days to "0" will clear cached peers. They will only return once they each become online/connect again.
  20. How would this work for folders that have multiple sources?! Perhaps this request would be better suited?
  21. Devices will be automatically removed from a folder's peer list after 7 days with no connection (this is configurable via the advanced "peer_expiration_days" setting)
  22. The green "Up" arrows denote data is being uploaded from the current device. The blue "Down" arrows denote data is being downloaded to the current device.
  23. Are you referring to up/down arrows in the Sending/Receiving columns? No, but there are a number of threads in the Feature Request forum you may wish to contribute to - for example: 1 | 2 No, again, possibly a request for the Feature Request forum There are a number of reasons why folder sizes in Sync may differ to those in your underlying OS. Commonly, it can be because you're "excluding" certain files/file types/folders from syncing (via .sync/IgnoreList, etc). Also, note that sizes shown in Sync won't take into account the size of the hidden .sync/Archive folder You can't currently "prioritize" syncing on a per-folder basis, but again, the Feature Request forum is your friend - try this thread. "optimum" in terms of what? Sync speed? CPU usage? Folder "rescanning" will have negligible impact on actual syncing speed (assuming your hardware is sufficient) Once again, the Feature Request forum is your friend! Generally speaking, the more devices you have in your Sync "mesh" the faster files will be available on your other devices, as each device will be able to retrieve files/parts of files for multiple peers. If they're all on the same local network, you could try disabling settings such as "lan_encrypt_data" and "disk_low_priority". These might give you a slight increase in transfer speed. See also How can I improve my data transfer sync speed? in the Sync Help Center No - "known hosts" provides a "hint" to Sync - they are not "exclusive" and do not "lock" sync to specified IPs
