  1. You did not specify that you wanted a "technical" answer since the topic name is "What is the function of relay and tracker" and the links provide you with that information
  2. Please run the following command /usr/bin/btsync --nodaemon --config /etc/btsync/config.jsonand look for an error like this one **** ERROR ******** Unable to listen for HTTP traffic on port 80. Exiting...You can see an overview using netstat to see to what ports your system is listening to using sudo netstat -nplI can confirm that using port 80, in your case, does not work. This seems to be not a bug with the script, since the script starts BitTorrent Sync just fine, but something related to BitTorrent Sync itself (?!) Because I can happily set the port to, for example, 8889 and it works like it should. Also I don't know why you had to edit the init.d file? The deamon should work out of the box using the script.
  3. See this help article on the Help Center at http://help.getsync.com http://help.getsync.com/customer/portal/articles/2096896 You cannot use symlinks, soft links, with BitTorrent Sync. You can use hard links since OS X is based on UNIX but you have to use Terminal for it - you can find all information on hard links on Google
  4. Please before you start a thread on the forums, try the search function as this question has been answered before. Also try to use the Help Center at http://help.getsync.com See this article for relay server: http://help.getsync.com/customer/portal/articles/1984019 For the tracker see: http://help.getsync.com/customer/en/portal/articles/1902087-what-data-is-collected-seen-by-bittorrent-inc-when-i-use-sync-
  5. If you share the read only key then your data can't be deleted by other people using the read only key on their end,
  6. The article "How do I reset my WebUI password?" points to a help document http://help.getsync.com/customer/portal/articles/2095562 There is tells you where to find the .sync folder so the instructions are correct you just missed something. Are you running BitTorrent Sync using a configuration file?
  7. There is no real fix since Sync is not doing anything wrong - it is properly syncing it. Since you probably have to sync way more than just that folder. There are more files and folders that need to be added to Sync in order to get it right and even that is just a guess from my end.
  8. What type of folder is it? I suspect you are referring to the Photo Backup folder?
  9. That on the other hand can work - if Dropbox supports something like blacklisting certain folder names or filenames. You then should add .sync to it. I have BitTorrent Sync shares inside MEGA shares and that works flawlessly.
  10. Awesome With nested shares I mean you have a folder that you are sharing using BitTorrent Sync and INSIDE of that Folder you have another folder that you have shared using BitTorrent Sync. That can lead to issues.
  11. I would not recommend having nested shares. That can definitely break stuff. What I would say you do on your NAS is: 1.) Unlink folder in WebGUI of your NAS 2.) Move folder on your NAS 3.) Add the exact same folder again using the share function on one of your clients who has access to that share. Preferably Owner or RW access. Sync will probably re-index the Folder but it won't re-sync all data.
  12. Be sure to shut down BitTorrent Sync before you edit the file though
  13. You can't prevent, for example, an iPhone to take screenshots. That is just not possible due to restrictions from the iOS operating system.
  14. See http://help.getsync.com/customer/portal/articles/2119351 and also you can add any kind of thing in manual connection field.
  15. Well I see what you're talking about.. and I see what issue is trying to be resoled.
  16. Amazing! Glad it does work! And it did not download the WHOLE library to your MacBook Pro? Just the single picture that you wanted? And that inside of the Photos.app ?
  17. Please always consider searching http://help.getsync.com/ for common questions like that
  18. Take a look at this please TCP vs. UDP if you see slow speeds that gradually build up over time and then drop back to 0 - that is kind of how it works. Remember back in the 90' when a download of a file was slow at the start and then fast at the end - that could be that. Also if your peers are so far away from each other there are other things that can interfere with it - things like peering for example. If your ping is 260-300ms it could be that packets are being dropped on the way and you have to re-send that piece of the file again. Resulting in overall slower transfer speeds. For improving speed there is this help article: http://help.getsync.com/customer/portal/articles/1902072 It also makes a difference what folder type you have - advanced or standard folders. See this article http://help.getsync.com/customer/portal/articles/1904611
  19. You can try to find a thread in Feature Requests that is about your idea and add your voice there. If there is none, feel free to create one
  20. That brings huge security issues with it. Before ANYONE is doing that, educate yourself on the internet what that actually means! It is easy to just click yes yes yes continues agree install on an app but actually knowing what that means is something else. Same goes for iOS jailbreaks.
