  1. So you're trying to keep a single external synced to multiple desktops?
  2. How doesn't it work with the drive letters different?
  3. Are there files locked in the folder on the machines that aren't uploading? What versions of sync are on the machines?
  4. Are you on mac? If you're not, then the delay is caused PURELY by the hashing and transfer of the files. Mac's file-change notification system isn't as straightforward to implement as other platforms.
  5. Already implemented. (encrypted secret) Currently requires API access due to the added strain such shares put on nodes.
  6. What specific version of sync? What does the interface say for the status? (Are they still indexing) If they're still indexing, you might adjust the folder_rescan_interval advanced setting to be longer.
  7. The fixed port is needed typically in case of the preference port getting blocked either by overzealous ISPs or poorly designed hardware. It's needed in case of those blocks on EITHER end of the communication.
  8. UDP traffic is used to communicate between systems. 3838 is used as an alternate port for communication. Is the x.x.x.x an address in one of the ranges listed in RFC1918? The short version is, you probably can't close the ports without breaking things.
  9. What internet security software is on the machines? Has that software been configured to allow BTSync?
  10. The short version of what's going on is that each machine in that situation has its own working copy of the file that it saves its edits from. ALL the edits from whoever saves last get applied to the document and all others either get completely ignored or stored in the .syncarchive folder.
  11. Because you need to generate additional encryption information on a per-file basis for the encrypted keys rather than the read only ones. Read-only and read-write keys have access to the files unencrypted. The Encrypted read-only keys do NOT have unencrypted access to the files, so separate encryption information needs to be generated for them.
  12. The generation and indexing of shares that support encrypted is actually significantly higher than that of normal shares.
  13. Actually, the 5-page thread did include discussions on the possibilities if sync was made to be open source.
  14. http://forum.bittorrent.com/topic/21048-defensive-open-source/?hl=%2Bopen+%2Bsource http://forum.bittorrent.com/topic/8816-will-syncapp-be-open-source/?view=findpost&p=46914&hl=%2Bopen+%2Bsource Please note that making sync open source has been discussed already.
  15. That's probably a DPI setting issue. Try turning your windows DPI down.
  16. The closest I've personally tried with (and had decent success with) was the WD My Book Live. All the specification documentation I can find says that the My Cloud runs on a dual-core version of the same processor line and is running linux (PowerPC based) The installation method would be the same.
  17. Did you remove and re-add the rules for sync in your firewall yet? I've got it working fine on two different windows 8.1 machines.
  18. There is no desktop version for linux at this time
  19. Follow the steps in the first post of http://forum.bittorrent.com/topic/12658-if-you-have-syncapp-issue/
